Meru introduces 'Patrol Vans' for quality check on cabs

V-Link, a leading fleet management company, which launched 'Meru', a world-class metered call taxi service in Mumbai in association with India Value Fund Advisors, a premier Private Equity Firm in April 2007 has recently introduced Meru Patrol Vans in the city.

Neeraj Gupta, Managing Director, V-Link Group said, "We have introduced these vans to ensure round the clock quality check of Meru services and handle emergency and break down situations if any. We have always strived to maintain the best possible quality of service provided to our customers and these vans are another endeavour towards that goal."

Constantly maintaining its customer centric focus, Meru has expanded its advanced booking service for customers in Andheri, Santacruz, Vile Parle, Goregaon, Malad, Vikhroli, Chembur, Powai, Vashi and other nearby areas in June 2007, in addition to its existing network from South Mumbai to Bandra and Kurla. Meru has now extended its services further, within BMC limits to areas such as Mulund, Mankhurd and Dahisar in order to reach a wider base of clientele and enable them to benefit of this luxury service.

Commenting on the up-gradation of Black & Yellow Cabs to Esteems, Neeraj Gupta added," We are glad that the Taxi Union has decided to move toward upgrading the city's public transport. As we have stated before, with some of the cabs plying for over fifteen years, there is definite need for more reliable, road-worthy and environment friendly vehicles."

Despite early resistance to the concept of Meru, V-Link has now garnered over 1000 taxi permits and in August 2007, has reached a team size of 350 employees. Meru is now receiving over 600 enquiries and executing over 400 bookings on a daily basis.

V-Link will increase to 1,000 taxis by year-end and plans to manage a fleet of at least 10,000 cabs across major metros of the country in the next 3 to 5 years. V-Link currently offers an advance booking system for Meru, which allows a customer to book for a cab by dialling (022) 4422 4422 or logging onto and get a cab at their appointed location.
