Neeraj Gupta, Managing Director of V-Link Taxis says, "We have received an overwhelming demand from passengers wanting to use Meru's services and the pick-up service at the airport is an extension of our endeavour to fulfil this demand. Over the last few months, several passengers have requested us to have Meru cabs at the airports as they want to option to travel in value-for-money and comfortable transportation after a long trip. We are currently working toward having Meru cabs stationed at Terminal 1A as well as the International Airport."
Meru cabs at the airport will be tracked from the main control room to determine their geographical location as well as their availability in order to ensure that the vehicles are always available for customer pick-ups. Meru is currently executing over 400 bookings per day across the city.
In other parts of Mumbai, customers can hail a Meru cab by the curbside, or avail of services like "Dial-a-Meru" (44224422) and "Meru-on-the-Net" (www.merucabs.com).
Every fare that the Meru takes is digitally transmitted back to the Control Centre and is recorded for reference. Each cab has an on board printer which gives a printed receipt for the fare collected. This makes it easy for those passengers who require a receipt for claiming travel expenses and can also be used by a passenger to report excess fare complaints, if any.
V-Link will increase to 1,000 taxis by March 2008 and plans to manage a fleet of at least 10,000 cabs across major metros of the country in the next 3 to 5 years. V-Link currently offers an advance booking system for Meru, which allows a customer to book for a cab by dialling (022) 4422 4422 or logging onto www.merucabs.com and get a cab at their appointed location.
