Wireless networked Maruti Esteems will soon join Mumbai's yellow and black taxi population of Fiats.
V-Link, a fleet management company offering car rental services to
corporate clients, has hit the road with 150 Esteems and intends
pushing the number to at least 1,000 by the year-end.
The company currently manages a fleet of over 1,000 vehicles and
plans to touch other metros with over 10,000 cars in the next three
years.
V-Link has satisfied the criteria laid down by the Maharashtra
Government and is one of the players selected as an operator of radio
taxis in Mumbai," said Mr Neeraj Gupta, Managing Director of V-Link.
Mr Anjan Deb, Chief Operating Officer, said their better trained chauffeurs would improve driving conditions on Mumbai roads.
Value added services such as 'dial-a-cab', 'sms-a-cab', advance
phone and online booking will be offered shortly by the company. The
air conditioned taxis, run on compressed natural gas, are fitted with
tamper-proof digital meters and offer printed receipts for payments.
The fare structure will be Rs15 for the first km and Rs13 for every
additional km.
