The route between Ahmedabad and Rajkot is very pleasant. You can complete the journey in a one way cab in just about four hours. To reach Rajkot in no time, you need to take outstation cabs and take the route via National Highway 47. To take this route, you first need to reach National Highway 947. From there you need to follow National Highway 47 and the Rajkot Ahmedabad highway. You need to continue on this route till you reach the Kuvadava road. Then exit the Rajkot Ahmedabad highway and continue on the Kuvadava road till you reach your destination.
As with the rest of Western India, it is best to visit Rajkot during the winter season. This means that the months between October and March are perfect for visiting. Do not plan your trip very close to March because the summer season begins in March. Ideally you should travel between November and February so that you do not get any warm weather at all. The summers in Rajkot are very hot and humid and you will not be able to explore the area the way you want to.

If you have a little time in hand, you can also take the Gujarat State Highway 17 route. This route will take you four and half hours to get to Rajkot. To take this route, you need to first get on to National Highway 047. Then you need to look for the Gujarat State Highway 136 and Gujarat State Highway 17. From there you need to take National Highway 147A. Then you need to get back on Gujarat State Highway 17 till you reach the Rajkot Ahmedabad highway. You need to continue on this highway till you reach the Kuvadava road.
The road conditions are excellent across Gujarat. The Gujarat state government has ensured that all roads are well maintained and there are no rough patches anywhere. The same can be said for the Ahmedabad Rajkot and the rajkot to ahmedabad route.
