There is only one route that most people take to get to Shimla from Manali. The route via NH3 and NH205 is the shortest one. The distance of Manali from Shimla is 250 km and it takes about 7 hours to reach Shimla from Manali.

The other route is via NH3, NH305 and NH5. The route has toll booths and is 264 km in length and will take an approximate 8.30 hours to reach Shimla from Manali.
The roads take you through mountains and lakes and there are many scenic locations for you to stop and have a moment of enchantment. There are plenty of places along the road to stop and have a snack or a bathroom break.
